[A general question sent to the student population at my university. I answered conceptually of course]
From my experience, hope is discovered and grown; not inherent, in life.
It is something that one imagines, even if ambiguous or indefinite, and something that one believes, even if doubtfully, as a possible reality. It generally looks to the future, sometimes recursively as well, for an explanation of something in the past.
This hope grows stronger through language, an accurate articulation of its truth, and action, extended from oneself to move toward that imagined and believed reality.
I believe the most balanced and sensible hope is discovered in and grown from relationships.

Hungry, angry, lonely and tired,
My will has all but expired, again
And the temptations come at me in droves
Hear the Son, some say
He is gonna come back, some day
And take all of our pain away
But my hope finds itself not at home…

Leave all your burdens behind you.
Enter into this bond only with what you have;
willing to share it for the love in which we place our hope that we believe in.
(Christ; who is everything, and will bring everything to completion.)

Now that the Great Task has been accomplished by the greatest of all servants, Christ the King Eternal, those who are privileged to serve Yahweh in Christ are freed and empowered to do anything in submission to God.
The saints are no longer bound by anything of this world, but as they are still in it, they have been given power, through God’s Spirit, to do as Christ did: to transform the things of this world into their redemptive submission to God, that others may likewise be freed to the full capacity that is offered in Christ.
The Spirit reveals all things that this may be accomplished. But neither the vision, nor its fulfillment will be seen alone. There must be perfect unity, together in Christ.
Bitter jealousies and selfish ambitions must be altogether removed from our presence by joining together, as the broken vessels we are, as one body, fully submitting to God; pressing–with all, faith; with all, hope; and with all, love–toward the fulfillment of God’s complete plan of redemption.

I have been given hope for the people of P and the M culture; not because of what we saw or heard but because we were there.
He put us there.
And in our presence–not because of some righteousness of our own but because of the justification and intercessions of the Holy Spirit–we reminded the land and the spiritual powers that rule over it–that have taken captive those people who reside in it–of the One True God and the promises that He has spoken over all the world.
The kingdom of heaven and the righteousness of God will reign in W K and the M people will know the voice of Yahweh and His covenant with those who believe.
Because of our divinely appointed presence, I have complete confidence in Christ and the proliferation of His truth among these people; that we were, and still are in our prayers, a small step in God’s plans toward that end.
